Given the significant costs required for the construction of YABICs and the budgetary limitations of the program. The option adopted was the selection and renovation of public and private owned institutions working in the field of agriculture and/or related sectors, which operate as host institutions of the 14 YABICs.
Near than 30 professional institutes, training centers and technical schools have been visited by a team composed of representatives of IITA, AVC_DP and the Ministry of agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER). Their mission was to assess and evaluate the potential of the different institutions and see whether they meet the requirements for hosting a YABIC.
After the assessment visits to the institutions, their SWOT analysis and evaluation by the above team, near than 18 potential host institutions meeting the incubation needs of ENABLE Youth Cameroon have been selected and retained. The final 14 host institutions of YABICs are to host 3 consecutive 12-months agribusiness incubations based upon an equitable, gender-balanced screening process. Currently, the program has been effectively launched across the majority of the 14 YABICs.
